VERY backdated event post.
Taiwan 2008 Part II

I'm back to post up the remaining of the trip!

Day 5. Bidding goodbye to Taichung, we were heading towards Taipei. Almost half of the day was spent at 六福村主题乐园. It is a safari & theme park so we got to see animals and go adventurous on amusement rides! How could I miss the rides that I've always seen on Taiwan variety programmes so I pulled Dah. for the rides. It is not scary at all. In the mid-afternoon, we were being brought to Taipei 101. It was raining really heavily accompanied with strong winds which caused us to be drenched. We did not go up to the Observatory as the weather that day was bad. At night we had steamboat dinner (so-so only) before stopping at our final stop - 饒河街觀光夜市. It is a rather small night market thus nothing much.

Day 6. Because we were staying at 5* hotel, international buffet breakfast were served. We moved on to visit 国立中正纪念堂 and saw the guard changing ceremony. It was scorching hot that morning and we saw some artists filming there too! For lunch, we went to this restaurant called 伍角船板. It has a really interesting concept - driftwood decorations and art pieces. The taiwan dishes served were good as well (especially the muah chee). In the afternoon we left for 西門町, the famous shopping outlet for youngster. Shop around and how can we forget 阿宗麵線. It is delicious unlike the one we have here. Be prepared to stand and eat because the shop do not have seats for customer. We were left on our own since we already knew our way back to hotel. We found our way to Carrefour through the help of the Taiwanese and brought back 3 cartons of Instant Noodle. Off we went to 士林夜市 after placing our buying in the hotel. We practically went crazy with the food and shopping there. Stuffs like Super Huge Chicken Cutlet, Snowflakes Ice, Bubbleteas, Spring Onion pancake, etc are the must have! Things are cheaper too and do remember to bargain before buying! :) It was closed to 2am when we were back to our hotel. I swear, at that time, my legs wasn't mine. HA!

Day 7. Visit to 陽明山國家公園 in the morning. We only covered a small part of the mountain and left for 野柳. 野柳 features rocks formation caused by erosion and one of the most famous would be the 'queen' rock. By the way, 野柳 also sell really delicious dried cuttlefish in various flavours. So do remember to get some home if you're there. After which we set off to 九份, a mountain town that has a long street accompanied with tea houses. They are famous for its "QQ" 芋圓. In the late afternoon, we reached 淡水 and left to wander for an hour. The breeze was great for strolling along the waterfront. We had their specialty - sour plum drink and bought couple of goodies like Iron eggs and Fish Crisps back. From there we departed to 士林夜市 where we shop and eat till we drop. To our astonishment, we realised we did not cover all of 士林夜市 the day before. But before conquering the night market, we took the train to 西門町 for some unfinished shopping and dinner and then back to 士林夜市 for more crazy shopping. It was another tiring but fulfilling day.

Day 8. Which was also our last day at Taiwan. The tour guide brought us to 鼎泰丰 for lunch. I had my favourite xiao long baos! Soon, it was time for us to bid goodbye to Taiwan. Before boarding the plane, we had some cakes and drinks in the airport and I must say, the Yogurt Green Tea drink was really good! I miss it. Well, we will definitely be back! :)
